This United Kingdom Flag Patch, also known as the Union Jack, is one of the most recognised flags as it symbolises three countries under one sovereign. The red cross on white base being the flag of England for the patron St. George, white diagonal cross on blue base being the flag of Scotland for the patron St. Andrew and the red diagonal cross on white base being the Northern Ireland flag for the patron St. Patrick. The flag originated in 1606 with only two countries and in 1801 North Ireland was added.
